Wako Junior

Executive Director & Co-Founder

Junior is a Somali lawyer, human rights advocate, and passionate youth leader committed to building a peaceful and inclusive Somalia. As a displaced youth who experienced exile firsthand, he co-founded YouthFul in 2022 with a bold vision: to empower Somali youth to lead solutions in peacebuilding, climate resilience, and livelihoods.

With legal training and deep grassroots experience, Geofrey brings strong leadership and strategic insight to the organization. 

Madar S Hersi

Program Coordinator

Based in Mogadishu
Hersi leads our programs on the ground in Somalia, overseeing project implementation, community engagement, and local partnerships. With a background in community mobilization and youth development, [Name] ensures our work stays rooted in local realities and cultural relevance.

Laki Abdii

Gender & SRHR Officer

 A trained SRHR educator and advocate, Abdii coordinates our programs focused on girls’ empowerment, GBV prevention, and reproductive health education. She works closely with youth mentors and community leaders to create safe spaces for girls and young women.

Fartuun Darwish

Climate and Livelihoods Facilitator

 Based in Mogadishu , Somalia
Darwish supports youth in learning climate-smart agriculture and green entrepreneurship. He is passionate about linking environmental sustainability with youth economic opportunity, especially in rural and drought-affected areas.

 Asha Mohamed Abukar

Girls’ Empowerment & SRHR Program Officer

 Based in Mogadishu, Somalia

Asha is a youth advocate and community educator with a strong passion for advancing the rights and well-being of Somali girls and young women. She leads YouthFul’s programs on gender equality, menstrual health, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), working directly with adolescent girls, community leaders, and schools.

Having grown up in a conflict-affected environment, Asha understands the urgent need for safe spaces and honest conversations around health, dignity, and gender-based violence. She is trained in SRHR facilitation, peer education, and trauma-informed care.

Her work focuses on building girls’ confidence, protecting their rights, and ensuring they have the tools to lead in their communities.
